General Welfare

In a democracy, citizens have the right to question the choices made by their government. For example, if your street is full of big, huge, dangerous holes, people on your street have the right to ask the government why they are not being fixed.

If the government does not agree to fix the street, the people on your street ave the right to sign their names to a letter, called a petition that demands that the government fix the street.

This is one way the people in a democracy can correct something that seems unfair or is against their wishes.
